Howdy, y'all.

I am self-taught (self-learning?), aspiring to be a photographer. I am inspired by other photographers' work. I use a Nikon D-50 w/ a kit 28-88mm lens. Got the camera from a friend in March, 2012.

Here I post my photographs: plants, architecture, street scenes, night shots. Some people, even strangers. Every so often I post photography related content.

For many years, I believed the popular, unfounded fantasy that great art photographs are born exactly as published. This is, by the way, the twin sibling (both of them are equally evil) of the "authors sit down and spit out good writing" fallacy. Both art forms take buttloads of editing and rethinking and work.

Thanks for stopping by.
Enjoy.

I love these flowers. I will keep posting pictures of them just because they are so frilly and pretty and the green and red pop.

Hibiscus schizopetalus, Again: Botanical Conservatory. UC Davis, 04-24-12.
I posted pictures of this twice before. I will keep taking pictures of this plant’s gorgeous flowers. Not sure why, but this Hibiscus plant only has one flower at any one given time, unlike the Hibiscus plants I am used to seeing, which have lots blossoms all over each plant. Not certain if the lack of flowers has something to do with this variety or with the indoor conditions in the greenhouse. Anyway, love these.

Sunflower Pixie Dust: Botanical Conservatory. UC Davis, 04-09-12.
For some reason this sunflower, with all the pollen sprinkled on its leaves, mesmerized me. It is in the Botanical Conservatory’s outdoor “hallway” between the offices/classrooms and greenhouses/gardens. I snapped the first picture in natural light but the second one with flash. I love the brightness of the second picture, posted here.

I will probably never tire of:
1. Taking pictures of them.
2. Posting my pictures of them.

My dad loved sunflowers. They always remind me of him.

Make me smile.
