Howdy, y'all.

I am self-taught (self-learning?), aspiring to be a photographer. I am inspired by other photographers' work. I use a Nikon D-50 w/ a kit 28-88mm lens. Got the camera from a friend in March, 2012.

Here I post my photographs: plants, architecture, street scenes, night shots. Some people, even strangers. Every so often I post photography related content.

For many years, I believed the popular, unfounded fantasy that great art photographs are born exactly as published. This is, by the way, the twin sibling (both of them are equally evil) of the "authors sit down and spit out good writing" fallacy. Both art forms take buttloads of editing and rethinking and work.

Thanks for stopping by.
Enjoy.

Sarracenias and Their Flowers in Black & White: Botanical Conservatory. UC Davis, 04-09-12.

While converting the choir image to B&W it dawned on me that some of my pictures of plant life might look really cool in B&W, so I tried these three.

I like them.

I will do more in B&W

Venus Flytraps (Dionaea muscipula) with a “Cryptanthus barely showing in the top photo…to the left”: SLB Greenhouse. UC Davis, 03-19-12.

Just because I can never get enough of these most popular carnivorous plants. And yes, I love the plants’ complimentary colors. And thanks to randomc for the extra info re the Cryptanthus. I am still learning and appreciate the corrections and/or extra insights.
